 1. QUICK START GUIDE

1.1 Overview of the wristband

The wristband has two protruding vibration actuators on the inside of the wristband.

One of the vibration actuators has two small pins in it, these are the charging pins for the wristband.

On top of the wristband is a protruding star pattern with six rays. The two rays going along the length of the wristband correspond to two buttons. The button closest to the side of the strap that has the locking-pin is the Action button. The button on the other side is the Morse button.

1.2 Charge wristband

1. Plug in the USB Type C cable into the charging adapter.

2. Plug in the other end of the cable to any USB charger or powered USB port.

3. Connect the charging adapter to the wristband. The charging pins on the wristband should be aligned with the pins on the adapter, situated on the end closest to where the cable meets the adapter.

A red LED will light up on the charger while charging, and a green LED will light up when charging is complete.

1.3 Turn on the wristband

Press the Action button (on the wristband) to turn on your wristband. The wristband will vibrate the letter: O, which in morse is Dash, Dash, Dash. If the wristband was already on and connected, the wristband will acknowledge your command with the letter: C, which in morse is Dash, Dot, Dash, Dot.

1.4 Turn off the wristband

Press and hold down the Action button (on the wristband) for 5 seconds to turn off the wristband. The wristband will vibrate the letter X, which in morse is Dash, Dot, Dot, Dash.

The wristband will automatically turn off after being disconnected from your phone for 20 minutes, and you will be notified by the vibration of the letter: X, which in morse is Dash, Dot, Dot, Dash.

1.5 Install the mobile app

Go to the web address app.xtactor.com which will redirect you to the Xtactor app on the Google Play store. Click the “Install”-button, and the installation will start. The mobile app is free.

1.6 Connect wristband to phone

1. Open the Xtactor mobile app.

2. Hold down the Morse button (on the wristband) for 10 seconds. The wristband will vibrate a plus sign which in morse is Dot, Dash, Dot, Dash, Dot, and turn into pairing mode.

3. On the Connect page (in the app) click the green button with a plus-sign. The wristband and the phone will pair and connect. The wristband will vibrate the letter: U, which in morse is Dot, Dot, Dash, for “connection up”, and you will get a card for your wristband on the Connect page (in the app).

Note: It may take up to 10 seconds before the card will show up on the Connect page (in the app).

1.7 Connection up/down feedback

Whenever your wristband loses its connection with your phone it will vibrate the letter: D, which in morse is Dash, Dot, Dot, for “connection down”. Whenever your wristband reconnects to your phone it will vibrate the letter: U, which in morse is Dot, Dot, Dash, for “connection up”. Thus, you will be notified when you get out of range or within range of your phone.

1.8 Connect/disconnect wristband

On the Connect page (in the app) you can connect and disconnect the wristband whenever you like. The wristband will then vibrate the letter: U, which in morse is Dot, Dot, Dash, for “connection up” or the letter: D which in morse is Dash, Dot, Dot, for “connection down” according to your action.

Remember that your wristband will automatically turn off after being disconnected for 20 minutes.

2. VIBRATION MESSAGES

2.1 General settings

In the mobile app on page “Settings – General” you can make general settings for all vibration messages: Character speed, Gap extension, Zeros, Vibrations strength, Vibration motors.

The alternatives for “Character speed” are, in words per minute: Slow (5), Fairly slow (7), Medium (10), Fairly fast (14), Fast (20).

The alternatives for “Gap extension” (between characters and words) are: None (times 1), Small (times 2), Medium (times 3), Large (times 4).

We recommend you select a high character speed, but where you still easily can distinguish between different vibration patterns. Then, you can decrease the overall text speed by increasing the gap extension.

The alternatives for “Zeros” are: Standard zeros (dash dash dash dash dash), Short zeros (dash).

Note: This setting only applies to output messages from the wristband. Even if you have selected short zeros, you still need to use standard zeros when inputting text on your wristband.

The alternatives for “Vibration strength” are: Weak, Medium, Strong.

The alternatives for “Vibration motors” are: Default, Switched, Both.

“Default” means that vibration motor 1 vibrates for dashes and vibration motor 2 vibrates for dots. “Switched” means that vibration motor 1 vibrates for dots and vibration motor 2 vibrates for dashes. “Both” means that both vibration motors vibrate both for dots and dashes.

2.2 Time messages

You can get periodically automatic time messages on your wristband telling you the current time. A time message starts with the letter “T” (–).

In the mobile app on page “Settings – Time” you can make settings for time messages: Time format (manual), Automatic time messages (on/off), Time format (automatic), Time interval (automatic), Repetitions (automatic).

The alternatives for “Time format (manual)” are: “T MM”, “T HH MM” (12 h), “T HH MM” (24 h).

“MM” is a two-digit number for the minutes, and “HH” is a two-digit number for the hour.  You can at any time manually request your wristband to give you the current time by giving the command “T” (see “Commands”).

The alternatives for “Time interval for automatic time messages” are: 1 min, 5 min, 10 min, 15 min, 30 min, 60 min.

To get the current time once every minute is good for practicing, but otherwise, it is too often.

The alternatives for “Time format (automatic)” are: “T MM”, “T HH MM” (12 h), “T HH MM” (24 h).

The alternatives for “Repetitions of automatic time messages” are: One, Two, Three.

When you start to learn to decode time messages, it could be a good idea to get each time message repeated more than once.

2.3 Short names

To know who is calling you or sending you a text message, you can give your contacts short names.

In the mobile app on page “Settings – Contacts” you can select contacts from your phone contacts, add them to your list of selected contacts and give them unique short names consisting of one or more characters.

Then, whenever contact with a short name calls you or sends you a text message, your wristband will give you the short name and you will know who is calling or texting you.

2.4 Phone call messages

You can get a message on your wristband whenever you have an incoming phone call. Such phone call messages start with the letter “P” followed by a gap and the short name of the caller (if the caller has been given a short name), for example, “P JD”.

In the mobile app on page “Settings – Phone” you can make settings for phone call messages: Phone call messages (on/off), Allow from, Repetitions.

If you want your wristband to notify you when you have an incoming call, then you should turn on phone call messages.

The alternatives for “Allow from” are: Selected contacts, Everyone.

If you only want to be notified when you have an incoming call from a person in your list of selected contacts, then select “Selected contacts”, otherwise select “Everyone”.

The alternatives for “Repetitions” are: One, Two, Three.

The number of repetitions determines how many times the phone call messages will be repeated.

2.5 Text messages

You can get a message on your wristband whenever you get a text message (SMS) on your phone. Such a message starts with a letter “M”(– –) followed by a gap, the short name of the sender (if the sender has been given a short name), and some part of the text message itself, for example, “M JD HELLO”.

In the mobile app on page “Settings – Messages” you can make settings for text messages: Text messages (on/off), Allow from, Part of the message, Repetitions.

If you want your wristband to notify you when you have an incoming text message (SMS), then you should turn on text messages.

Note: You also need to turn on text messages to be able to send text messages (see “Commands”).

The alternatives for “Allow from” are: Selected contacts, Everyone.

If you only want to be notified when you have an incoming text message (SMS) from a person in your list of selected contacts, then select “Selected contacts”, otherwise select “Everyone”.

The alternatives for “Part of the message” are: No content (only header), First word, First two words, First three words, First four words, First sentence, Complete message.

This setting determines what part of the text messages will be forwarded to your wristband. We recommend the first alternative for non-experienced users as it requires some training to be able to decode full-text messages.

The alternatives for “Repetitions” are: One, Two, Three.

The number of repetitions determines how many times the incoming text messages will be repeated.

2.6 Notification messages

You can get selected notification messages forwarded to your wristband from your phone. Notification messages start with a letter “N” (– •) followed by a gap, the short name of the app that sent the notification (if the app has been given a short name), and some part of the notification itself, for example, “N P 5” (notification from my parking app telling me that the parking time expires in 5 minutes).

In the mobile app on page “Settings – Notifications” you can make settings for notification messages: Notification messages (on/off), Part of the notification, Repetitions, Select apps.

When you turn on notification messages the first time you will be directed to a page where you can give “Xtactor Notification Receiver” permission to handle your notifications. You have to do that before you can turn on notification messages.

The alternatives for “Part of notification” are: No content (only header), First word, First two words, First three words, First four words, First sentence, Complete notification.

The alternatives for “Repetitions” are: One, Two, Three.

The number of repetitions determines how many times the notification messages will be repeated.

In the setting “Select apps” you can select apps from your phone apps, add them to your list of selected apps and give them unique short names consisting of one or more characters. Only notifications from the selected apps will be forwarded to the wristband.
