You can learn Morse code in a few hours.

Smartwatches use vibrations to request your attention and then you look at its screen to receive the actual information. The Xtactor sends the information directly in the vibration message eliminating the need for your active attention. The information is transferred directly to your brain. Doing it this way enables your brain to interpret the messages instinctively, the same way you learn to read or ride a bike. After sometime, your attention will not be required, and you will just know the time, who is calling or whatever information you are interested in.

  • Smartwatch vibrations are not good enough to transfer Morse code in high speeds. On the Xtactor we use very fast and strong vibration motors on two points to enable an even better separation between short and long vibrations.
  • Screens and vibration motors are very taxing on the battery on a device. Using both extensively will drain the battery quickly. Since there is no screen, we can also fit larger vibration motors and battery.

Standard Bluetooth 5.0 range, expect the same as your other Bluetooth products, which is about 10 meters.

It can be paired with multiple devices but only connected to one at a time.

It comes with a magnetic charger.

The Xtactor could use multiple encoding schemes. We chose Morse since it is a well-known standard that has been around for a long time and is very efficient for English text.

Our highest priority is to get an iOS-version of the app published. Unfortunately, it will take at least a couple of months for us to make that happen. With the original budget, we knew that we were only going to be able to make one app and we chose Android since it has a greater market share.

TLDR: one day. There are many factors that affect battery life, age, temperature, and manufacturing differences to name a few but with the Xtactor it mostly has to do with how much time the vibration motors are on. They consume more than 100 times the nominal processor current. This means that if you spend a lot of time practicing, for example, the battery will run out in a couple of hours. However, with typical use, even for a heavy user, it will last at least one day.

To reduce costs we have tried to create a solution that works for most people. In the future, we would like to have different sizes, colors and maybe even shapes. If we have enough interest, we might do it earlier than planned. If your wristband does not fit you properly, please contact us at support@xtactor.com and we will figure something out.

You should already be able to make custom notifications that are compatible with the Xtactor. We can catch notifications from any app and if you write your own it should already be possible. Notification messages are currently very limited in the app, but we are working on improving that with custom rules. We are planning to release an API that can be accessed from other apps but since the Bluetooth communication protocol is custom everything will have to be relayed through our app.

We are working on our IFTTT integration and it should be up and running soon.

The Xtactor wristband is designed to be priced at $198, between flagship smartwatches and cheap activity trackers. It is missing smartwatch features like a screen or app store but has a lot more features and capabilities than most activity trackers. Related biohacking products or technology-aids for visually/hearing-impaired are more expensive and most of them are even priced a lot higher. Currently, it is 50% off because there are a few features missing and bugs that need to be sorted out. We also want as much user feedback as we can get before, we do a big marketing push.
